This warning from DEM.
I know you all have been monitoring Tropical Cyclones Erick and Flossie via local news and HNL.info; however, don’t forget you can also track these storms via the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC)’s Disaster Alert website link https://disasteralert.pdc.org/disasteralert/ or Disaster Alert App https://www.pdc.org/apps/disaster-alert/.
Erick doesn’t seem to be too much of a threat to Oahu; however, Flossie is one we are closely monitoring. Encourage everyone not to let their guards down even as Flossie weakens to a Tropical Storm. Weather forecasts have Flossie strengthen back to a hurricane within a few days. If anything, we all know for a fact we don’t need to have a hurricane to cause damage to our island – flooding rains and high surf is the least we can expect. So take this time to review family and community emergency plans, emergency supplies and evacuation kits, communications plans, etc. Remember, safeguard important documentation and photos by backing up your computer files, keeping paperwork safe in a waterproof container or scanning info and uploading them to a secure cloud or external drive.
Again, mahalo for all you do to help keep your families and your community better prepared!
Stay Ready, Be Prepared for the next big storm.
